The Ride @ Springwood

"The Springwood Ranch Ride is now The Ride @ Springwood.  The creator of this ride has now moved the sponsorship from the Olympic Chapter of the Backcountry Horsemen of Washington to the non-profit corporation known as Washington Open Trails (WOT).  The creator made this change to better serve a larger population of Washington State trail users.  Our focus is to use a grant process to fund trail maintenance/creation within Washington State with the highest priority given to multiple use trails and high impact storm damaged trails.

Our practice during the last 22 years of this ride was to read, learn and improve your experience through the suggestion box you filled with such great ideas.

We heard you!

Under a new administration, The Ride @ Springwood has cowboy'd up and are still offering the same great food and fun and 4000 acres of riding across some of Kittitas County's most picturesque real estate.  A working ranch, Springwood Ranch, formerly known as Stuart Anderson's Black Angus Ranch.  Many trails and many experiences await your visit.  Bring your camera for wonderful pictures of the Stuart Range, the Yakima River, Taneum Creek, the covered bridge and the sweeping Kittitas Valley.  Experience the head spinning rush of looking down an underground irrigation tunnel that drops over 200 feet to send the water to the other side of the Yakima river.  Play putt putt or horseshoes in the cool of the evening.  Challenge others to some basketball.  If you don't ride, the covered wagons will take you on a journey up the historic John Wayne Trail along the Yakima River.  Bring your fishing pole or gold pan to try your luck along the river's edge.  Shall we go on?  I haven't mentioned the fresh BBQ Chicken for Friday night's dinner.  The giant Texas cinnamon rolls at the continental breakfast at the Saturday morning rider's meeting.  And, in listening to your suggestions, a new lunch menu for your consumption on the trail.  And, of course, the most mouth watering Top Sirloin roasted over charcoal and alder on huge spits with Sarah's famous seasonings.  Then there's the fresh corn on the cob... oh, and the ranch beans, and the hot bread and oh, oh, oh... the fresh strawberry shortcake!  And if you can still move, dance the night away to the music of the live band, Standing Room Only and utilize those dance lessons from Saturday afternoon. A multitude of door prizes are doled out during the dance, too. Sunday morning, enjoy a belly filling breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, home fried potatoes, fruit and Belgian waffles.

And you don't have to do the dishes!!!

For five meals, camping, dancing and free open riding, where could you go wrong?  The Ride @ Springwood knows you will leave full and sated,  with sun streaked hair and wonderful memories of a great weekend in the foothills of Elk Heights.  You can register online at WOT's website, paypal and visa accepted for payment, another suggestion given to help make this a great weekend for you.  Don't be fooled by pretender's saying that they are us.  Come and enjoy the ride you've been enjoying for years.

Looking forward to seeing you!
